Those who know me personally, and those who have attended my Super Natural Health seminars, will know I am a big proponent of growing and juicing barley and wheat grass. If you live in New Zealand, here is a list of the primary growers and suppliers of organic (Demeter and/or Biogro) grains. I am only aware of two major suppliers. Every other company I have come across is selling the product supplied by these two companies.

You can sprout and juice barley, wheat, oats, rye, and spelt. Although barley and wheat are the most common, and typically the most cost effective. Both Milmore Downs and NZ Biograins supply all of these, although not all the time. Make sure you buy the whole form of the grain. Biograins call it “dressed wheat”, and describe it as suitable for sprouting and animal feed. Milmore simply call it “whole grain”.

I have found the grains remain viable (for sprouting) for a couple of years. So I suggest only buying what you can use in no more than 12 months.
