Here’s a beautiful video, just a few minutes long, that sheds light on the power of the human spirit. The power to step beyond illusions of separation where none exist. The power to let the Heart lead and move us into a space of understanding and compassion. A reminder of our togetherness.

Does this suggest we should hug and embrace all people all of the time? Not exactly.

Living with Heart is, on one level, about discernment, and right-action based on our discernment. The ‘right’ in ‘right-action’ refers to the action most conducive, under a given set of circumstances, to the furtherance and uplifting of Life.

In order to discern accurately, the Heart must be involved and engaged. The rational thinking mind only relates to the Known, and yet much of the time what we are faced with represents a great many Unknowns. It is the Heart of Man that accurately senses the nature of the Unknown, and that can sense the most life-affirming way to relate with Life in an inclusive and intelligent way. Sometimes that means asserting your right to physical and energetic distance from people who behave in ways you feel are life-negating. You need not to go into any  form of judgement, criticism, or condemnation in order to assert this right. It’s all about playing your part in maintaining the balance and harmony of Life.

Sometimes the most intelligent (i.e. life-affirming) action is to draw a person nearer, even closer to your heart and your physical warmth and presence. To physically and energetically hold them with kindness and a level of intimacy that our conditioning might otherwise tell us is inappropriate. Like this fellow in the video. Most socially conditioned people wouldn’t ordinarily hug an unknown man on the street. Sometimes this is what’s needed to let one another know—directly and experientially—that it’s okay, we are here, together, and I love you. In so doing, we remind each another that our personal boundaries are not harsh borders of fixed separation, but are in fact a flexible and natural extension and expression of our dignity and loving intention to remain true to LIFE. In this way we assert that our personal boundaries are responsive to Life, and are in fact there to make the experience of conscious re-union and kindness possible.
